As Ray ex smoking biker says Aldo it should be possible to sort it with a repair sleeve. (They used to sell these in EW Bearings in Exeter a long time ago.) Otherwise may be possible to get an oil seal with the same o.d. but smaller i.d. however I think the crank end seal is a Cortica scrolled type so they may be limited in size range.
Good luck with it anyway. Norm
Thanks Norm, I have two good people looking in to this for me :
Jim Blomley (JB racing)
Tony Botto (TB Motorcycles)
I will let you know how I get on. Hope to see you soon when all sorted.

We recover journals on gas turbine shafts by machining undersize, chrome plateing (usually by metal spraying these days - less issues with micro cracking) and then grinding back to original size
You might need to track down a couple of different shops though to do it that way.
If you go down the plasma spray route PM me and I track down the names of a couple of companies if that would help

Hi Tris,
Thanks for this - very interesting. I have two good people looking in to this for me ;
Jim Blomley (JB Racing)
Tony Botto (TB Motorcycles)
I am confident one of them will be able to fix this for me.

I read one reccomendation when fitting new oil seals use the green “scrubbie” thing to clean the surfaces then smear silicone onto the outer surface the seal sits in.
After 3 goes to seal a Guzzi THIS worked.
I do know that you can get the crank sprayed (Nitrided) and re ground, I do know a few who had it done … SRM are well reccomended
Hi KB,
My local workshop did exactly this, but it started leaking oil from the seal almost immediately. Thanks for your input.
Hi Guzzibear,
Thanks for letting me know - can you post SRM’s contact details?
Just search SRM
Thank you GB
Is the crank different from other Guzzis ie would one from a 1100 california fit?The alternator end is probably the same and the the clutch mounting doesn’t seem to have changed much in 40 years of production.Just a thought as there is a 1100 cali crank on ebay.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Moto-Guzzy-1100-California-Crankshaft-Bearly-Used-/221372539541?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item338ad4e295

have you sorted anything ? would be interested in what you found out
I have had some good advice and proposals from Moto Corsa, I am dropping the bike to them soon - will update you on their findings and solution once they open the engine up … but they sound optimistic that it can be fixed rather than replaced.
hope it all goes well for you
I feel much happier about it now - will update you in 2/3 weeks time.
Dan, I will be coming up to Oxfordshire soon after I get “EZIO” fixed - will contact you in advance to meet up.
Yes defo -make sure the sun is out when you come up…
Will do!
Any news at all ?
The bike is currently with Moto Corsa - just waiting to hear from them.
