Meant to update this! Last weekend happy to report the upside down/pointing backwards deffo the answer! Thanks to all who had done the research! ![]()
Still needs judicious moderation of the trigger though. Also got caught out when I upturned the handset then went to insert realised I need to form the habit of pointing it to the ground first as I got a lovely splurge of residue fuel that was sitting in the nozzle from it’s upright storage position!! DUH! How is it I have managed to go through half a century at least and never faced this problem??? Yeah.. I never had a Guzzi before!
Reminds me of when learning to use a kickstart back in the Stone Age! Educating my right foot to ‘feel’!
Jeez I am truly a dinosaur.. just reminded me also of the wondrous ability of using a starting handle on the old Morris Minor I learned to drive in. Winter morning, dead battery.. no problem!! Happy days! ![]()
While I am on a memory lane kick, at the risk of boring the pants off everyone, recalling a long forgotten issue! Early 80’s I guess I had a GS1000E I commuted on back and forth to work. If it had been raining during my shift I got this aggravating misfire repeatedly. Chased that one around to distraction for ages pulling plug leads, coil leads, spraying sealant all to no avail. Then got to questioning contaminated fuel, changed my regular filling station. No luck. Finally examined the filler cap to realise the flange at the orifice under the flick up cap was too shallow and the dished recess was collecting water which was then overflowing into the tank!!!
Rest of the time I had that bike I taped on a plastic raincoat/plastic bag when parking it outside. So.. it’s not just Guzzi! ![]()
OK I’ll shut the hell up now to everyone’s great relief! ![]()
