Anyone used a bike lift for V7

no remap needed usually, wasn’t needed on my v85.

decat is expensive but anyone who has done it on a v85 that I’ve met didnt regret it

It’s an attractive thought but seeing as I’m skint at the moment gonna have to be something to consider later. I like the idea of losing that extra weight. Those suckers are heavy!

Another thing is I have these Mistral cylinder head guards which I really like as opposed to the standard tubular steel ones. There is some question that clearance for them might be tight with the slight increase in diameter of Ago pipes. I’d hate to lose them. They just look much more elegant.

Just have to be patient for now sadly and not my strong suit! A centre stand would be nice and I want a taller screen to keep the bugs off my visor. Kinda like the looks of the Puig offering or maybe the Powerbronze. Then some Oxford Pro heated grips that are much neater than the ones with the add on controller.

These are all immediately practical additions and I am happy with performane as is really.

Just going to have to keep a lid on my farkle desires for a bit.

Have you made a lot of changes to the V85? Dave

Hope I am not boring you with my obsession with this but I finally cracked how to post pics in here I hope! See if it works?

Lets you see why I am keen to crack this as, in my view, allows you to do so much over ramp/table type gear and without having to use tie downs, extra jacks and no risk of slides or topples. You can see the cradle that clamps the bike and that bottom bar that fouls the cat. BTW the front wheel chock you see is not necessary. I just happened to have the bike in it and neglected to remove it. I added the pic of the Morini where you can see the adapter I used to work with it. If you can see the brass coloured boss fitted to the upper fixing of the footrest frame just left of the big swing arm bolt head? I need to find them and hoping I took them off the bike before I traded it!!

caponord handguards, caponord front mudguard and pyramid plastics extender, changed the rear brake lever post to the off road type because my foot kept slipping off it in heavy rain. mistral ‘velocity stack’ (a bigger venturi in the air box), mistral downpipes, y piece, and silencer, mistral v boost (might remove that soon), guzzi rear mudguard, guzzi bevel box guard, guzzi engine bars, guzzi heated grips that now have a busted right grip :frowning: , MIA box, taller screen and a chinese spoiler on top of that

Ha! Quite the list! Sounds like you been chasing some extra ponies? Success?

I won’t ask what happened to the busted grip.

it’s not a huge power increase, but it will pick up from 500rpm lower which helps in traffic, and mid range is better. top speed isn’t much different as the changes don’t affect high rpm much at all, bit more torque and throttle response makes it more fun to ride. sounds better too.

Ahhh the music of it!! :star_struck: Yeah that mid range is where it just works. On the V100 I seriously doubt I’d spend too much time at the top of the rev range. Then I’m an old duffer!

the air cooled engines sound very unhappy at high rpm, probably a V100 can cope with it better, but I don’t think anyone buys a guzzi for that. v85 seems to run best between 3-6k rpm

Well I’ve been through all manner of engine configs and I have to say this one just does it for me.

Feel, sound, thrust. In four wheel terms reminds me of big V8’s I had in my trucks. Alive and kicking and deceptive ease of progress. I love it!

Woohoo! Managed to crack the lift issue this morning. Found the bobbins that I had for the Morini and affixed them to the upper bolt locations on the footrest casting using a longer bolt.

That got me to within a hairsbreath of lining up the cradle clamps with loads of clearance under the cat. All it took to square them up was rolling the back wheel on to a piece of board maybe 3/4 inch thick and Bingo. Everything slid in and fit snug and tight. Locked it all in and bike solid as a rock vertical Couple of strokes on the jack pedal and up she came, bike going to stoppie position in increments.

Now even at that I can have the bike level for oil checks or to raise horizontal could simply put a cantilever jack under the sump but if I can get a single side swingarm sleeve to slip in the centre of the back wheel hub then I can use it as intended with the restraining strap to either have it both wheels up and horizontal for winter storage or wheelie position for front end work, dropping the forks etc. Well pleased I can again use the lift for whatever.

Thinking that with the Stelvio and it’s bigger front rim raising the front somewhat would allow the cradle to line up without my back wheel slight step up dodge?

Don’t know enough about other models out there to comment but the measure I made from level ground to the centre point of the chosen pivot is spot on 40cm with the lift at rest fully down.

On mine, I made a steel plate 3mm thick, to extend the front end by 45cms ish. Hooks in place to allow it to hinge (same as the rear with same construction). A couple of bits of wood then used to level the front as needed. Can now run the front wheel onto plate then flick the bike onto mainstand. Front edge of wheel is level with deck but with bike on mainstand. Drilled a few holes along the sides to take M8 eyebolts to tie down the beast as needed

I got a slighly larger one. Gives a useful space for all the bits I take off even if it tight walking around it. made up an extra temporary ramp to help getting it on/off mainstand
