Cardan shaft oil level check (Breva 750)

Hi,

Please advise on the following:

  1. How often should the oil level of the Cardan shaft be checked?

  2. How often should the oil level of the Cardan shaft be replaced/changed?

  3. How do I check the Cardan shaft oil level on a 2003 Breva 750.

Thank you.

there is no oil in the drive shaft, however my technician usually puts a small amount inside the rubber gaiter so that is splashes around and stops and corrosion
only BMW run or used to run a wet shaft
its worth removing the rear wheel, placing a box under the drive housing and removing the driveshaft gaiter from the back of the gearbox and applying a little grease to the splines, and checking that their is no corrosion on the output shaft, as this can kill the oil seal and empty the gearbox
the drive box oil is simply a case of draining it all out, then refilling it, there is a level plug to mark this, or just put the correct amount in
sorry If I am a bit vague but I have contracted Chinese bat flu and its knocked me out
