Guzzi mechanics

“This is a list of Moto Guzzi resources suggested by individual Moto Guzzi enthusiasts hoping that it might be of some interest to members.

The MGCGB in no way endorses or recommends any of these resources.

Make up your own mind and do your own research to your own satisfaction before acting”

Sounds good to me Brian, maybe something like this could/should go on top of the Technical Section as well?

Anybody on here with legal training who can give some advice?

Uki

Well if I had my time again I’d remove one of my listed entries.

I agree Uki, my experience when applied to themselves of ‘mechanic’ also varies quite differently from what I expect a ‘mechanic’ to be, and what skills and quality of care they have vs those they believe they have.

I’ve had rear brake pedals fall off on a ride back from a garage, front spindle nuts come loose right after being in a garage, fuel lines dripping, carbs cleaned for a lot of money (and took him months) and it worse at the end than when it started.

The worst was when my MV was left in ‘highly recommended and premium price’ dealership for some work, tweaks and upgrades and I came back from the Middle East a week early and found my bike with bits missing as it had been used as a parts mule! I nearly punched the manager and mechanic.

Needless to say when discussed on MV forums others basically accused my of lying as they had had such sterling treatment. When the bike was finally ready for collection, 30 minutes after leaving the dealer, all my electrics failed at 60mph in the dark on the A40 dual carriageway. To say I blew a gasket with them again is an understatement. I got them out to collect the bike and then take me home. Total eejits.

I still have photo proof of one of the very famous dreamy paint shops of the complete rubbish work they returned, that took them 9 months to get back off them.

Caveat emptor for me every time now, unless it’s a job I don’t have the skills for.
Cheers,
Hoppy
