There are two dots in the cam wheels which when lined up put the slector in neutral. You can then rachet the cams to fourth using the lever spline.
When I got my V11 from twiggers they had replaced said spring as a recall. I got a list of warranty/recall repairs done the prev owner was very dilligent in having the bike dealer serviced.
Balders YOU are an absolute star sir …
My spring had already been replaced by the previous owner as there was a receipt which included the repair at about 3000 miles, this spring failed at 12500 miles. The pawl arm mount has the correct 15mm diameter, the problem was compounded by some V11 pawl arms were factory fitted at 16mm. So the bottom line is my spring failed in spite of having the correct size mount, others have clearly have had the same problem. I think that I will replace the spring every second oil change in the future. Lastly, many many thanks to Baldini who has kindly lent me his spare spring so that I can use the bike in days rather than weeks.
…wondering how many gearchanges a failure takes…anyone ever counted?
well done all, the value of the MGCGB forum is proven yet again.
Springs fail, it’s a fact of life. Just think yourself lucky it wasn’t in a Tonti box.
