How can I learn to ride my Cali ??

Low speed- clutch and throttle control most important. Slip the clutch a lot, but don’t worry about burning it out. It is not like a car. Use rear brake when you must. Low speed with front brake in anything other than a straight line will try to chuck you off. Physics rule!
Practice whenever and wherever you can on every ride even to the local shop, push yourself to go a bit slower/ lower whenever you can especially if the road is quiet or even just getting out of your driveway.
You will get there.

Bike safe is absolutely brilliant. I had a quiet day for mine so got my instructor/ policeman all to myself all afternoon. Learned loads and what a hoot! Did a whole tank of fuel and still needed more.
If you guys have not done it yet, you should sign up immediately- worth every penny and very likely to help you live longer and have more fun when out and about

Hello all.Sorry late catching up with this thread. As its a bit chilly, may as well see whats going on.I am very new to the site and been motorcycling since late 80s.Had quite a few.Always longed for a Cali.ALWAYS.First Guzzi an 03 Breva 750.Sold it to a chap who been away from bikes for 15 yrs.He was a complex character.I dreaded him riding the thing home,in the dark,up the hill.I said, text me when you get home.Four hours later he text me,should have taken him about 25 mins! Anyway,Breva. Then Nevada Club 2002.Lovely bike.Comfy, but needed a lot of work to get it as a I wanted.Had carbs balanced finally. It ran great, even got me from Spain to UK this yr.Still wanted that Cali though.Got one!!Needs a clutch, oil pipe, from head to head,as its weeping.Got a new battery.Wet and drying wheels, and anything that was Ally…even the lower front forks!! Regarding the size of the thing.I was in awe of it,it frightened me.It has had the centre stand removed…wonder why?! The Nevada required a certain technique for the centre stand.I am not weak, but i could not do it unless the Nevada was on an incline. Now the Cali.Already dropped it.In public too!!Embarrassed or what!! I think we all try to be cool, but sometimes the :laughing:machine needs respect.I could never drive a HGV,so I suppose I treat the Cali in the same way.Skills are important, and we learn something every day.Clutch ,brake, all your senses.Enjoy it.Take your time. All will be good.[quote=“Gary_WXM, post:24, topic:16186, full:true”]

could you put some spaces in your posting please, I cant read it very easily all crammed up like that ,perhaps break it into sections ?

it might be the type of text against a black background, but for me it blurs badly
many thanks

I found my Cali EV a bit of a lump until I lowered the yokes by 2”/50mm down the fork legs. Much more willing to turn in with no loss of straight line stability.

it’s the same post repeated 4 times
