How to restrict a 850 t3

They ought to do the same to car drivers, make it more difficult, some of the hot hatch cars are driven by complete nutters, as for Insurance THAT is a joke, the amount of uninsured drivers about is frightening.

Can you imagine the uproar it would cause if a car driver had to take up to 3 tests !!!

or four if he wanted to buy an AUdi !!!
martin could yo unot just hire a bike for the day
I know they used ot have the direct access thing when you were over 21 but its all gone a bit complex now

At 17 you are restricted to 15bhp on a bike, but you can drive a 727bhp McLaren.
Bikers already take 4 tests/certificates, so Audi drivers need 5 plus cycling proficiency and a month on a scooter. EasyTiger2014-01-11 23:35:52

This is now going a bit off topic for the tech section. Suggest if people want to discuss the new motorcycle test situation, a thread is started in General.

Yep!

Don’t bother asking the DVLA, they haven’t got a clue. I am in the motor trade and they cock up first registrations on a regular basis particularly since closing all the local area offices and centralising in Cardiff. I have constant battles with them and they are nearly always wrong!

Good luck with the test.

You are not wrong there way back in 1996 bought a brand new VFR750…went to a Rally in Wales got back had to take it back to dealers for new reg number they had used the one on the bike for …a tractor…THAT would have been an interesting conversation had I been stopped for any reason…

It did cost the dealer as I made them cover the £10 it cost me to alter the insurance documentation, they had to send the DVLA notice to the insurers, it all worked out ok in the end…
BUT by asking them and getting a reply you DO have a precident…

Ah yes, I have had so many battles, I have a direct phone number (and first name terms!) to take me past the silly firewalls that otherwise direct you to the website where the info supplied is ambiguous so say the least. The reality is that all regs and rules, whether for cars, bikes, buildings or anything else you can think of, are so complex thanks to euro-rules, no-one actually fully understands them anyway and so its quite easy to persuade those that should know, that they are wrong.

Thanks all for the comment so and advice.it is all a bit complicated and messy just to take a test. I think I will use the instructor so bike for the test it will probably be the easiest way. It is down to the tester on the day on his interpretation ofthe rule.
Its a good topic for debate though.

Thanks again for all the comments and interest.
Will keep you informed on the outcome if I get a definite answer.

Intructor/riding school bike IS the way to go not only is it compliant BUT the examiner sees you have had training, it makes a difference to their judjement, I know they should be impartial BUT it is always there as a mental note.

I have held a Chief Instructors License BUt when son wanted to ride I got him to enroll in a local school for his CBT Passed and bought a Honda cb125rr.

Then he took one of the residential courses for training and test passing, it SEEMS expensive BUT you almost always get a result and if you don’t the subsequent training /test is without further payment… He passed and went to a VFR750 Honda from his V50 Guzzi …

I know training has moved on , Jeez when I took my test it was round the block left then around right, Took mine on a 2T and actually had to stop by the examiner (he was deep in conversation with someone ) To let him know my bike was oiling…he then told me to go back to the test station.

When he got back he remembered he had NOT done the “Emergency stop” routine. so I went around again saw him he held up his clipboard I stopped and passed…it was, compared to even a CBT a joke.

Where I took my test there were NO roundabouts and it was done on quiet back streets with 1 set of traffic lights to negotiate Car test was in the same area, the first time I drove dahn sarth I was totally gobsmacked.
