Midges
Another vote for Avon ‘Skin So Soft’ moisturiser. The mozzies hate it and it is so much nicer than Deet. The stuff has kept me bite free every time I’ve been up to Scotty land.

Rather belatedly I’d like to say that I am in complete agreement with the above post. Visited different parts of that beautiful country at least twenty times at different times of year, including the midge season and never found them a problem.
My experiences this year was that early June deep in Midge country they were a nightmare, after the hot spell they all but disappeared, hopefully the hot spell has dampened their enthusiasm to mate so their could be less next year (although that will no doubt upset some eco system or other, who cares if its hot and midge free)
