I’ve just come across my last post on this subject from over two years ago. I didn’t realise it was so long.
I bought light throttle springs and cut and bent them to the same length and shape as the existing ones. Bought two Venhill nylon lined throttle cables and lubricated them with silicone spray, not oil. This from recommendations on this site. After fitting, the results are fantastic. When I’m out riding, I never give the throttle action a thought. It’s that good. No downsides at all to date.
Thanks to all for advice received.
Regards. Dave
Sounds good
FYI If you are running twin cables all the way from the twist grip to the carbs the throttle synch can go out in a couple of hundred miles.
You can keep the throttles in synchronisation longer if you run a single cable from the throttle to a splitter https://www.caferacerwebshop.com/en/gaskabel-splitter-verdeler.html which is tied firmly to the frame with an easy run for the two short runs to the carbs.
Thanks for that information. Something to look into if the carbs do go out of sync i future. Regards. Dave
From memory Chris, a metal rod was fitted across the frame and passed through the holes in the bracing piece visible rearward of the carbs in your photograph, I imagine through some kind of sleeve. There was a pulley fitted on each end of the rod with a short length of cable to each carb. The carbs were further back so must have been on longer inlets. The tank was in place so I can only guess that there was a pulley in the centre of the rod with a cable going to the twistgrip. This was on a Le Mans in Italy that was advertised for sale around 2019. Advertised in Car and Classic.
As previously stated, new cables and modified lighter springs have transformed the throttle action on my 850T.
