It’s best to get out of the way, no point in being a victim of road rage. Police traffic patrols have been savagely cut over the last twenty plus years which I feel is partly responsible for the appalling driving standards we now witness. What many people don’t realise is that back in the day police traffic departments as a result of stopping vehicles for traffic offences, would very often uncover more serious offences as a result of that stop. Besides drink/drugs driving offences it was often found that the driver and/or passengers were wanted on arrest warrants, were disqualified drivers, the vehicle was stolen, the vehicle contained stolen property/drugs/firearms etc. They have now been replaced by technology ie; cameras which cannot deal with the aforementioned offences. I could go on, but it may get too political which is frowned upon.

there are a host of “general biking” forums out there. it doesn’t bother me, personally, but i certainly don’t mind ppl expecting the MGCGB forum to be Guzzi- focussed.

I think your post is an accurate valid observation. Yesterday I returned to driving following a 6 week break whilst having laser surgery for a torn / detached retina. Having recovered my sight in the affected eye, I made a journey from the East Midlands to Birmingham. My observations are (a) the current standard of driving is horrendous, & I’ve been driving / riding for 46 years. (b) Trunk A roads & motorways are incredibly congested & carrying much denser traffic than their designed capacity (c) Standards of road maintenance are at an all time low, serious potholes even on motorways
It’s bad enough on 4 wheels, worse on 2. Stay safe out there, it’s like the Wild West, & I’m speaking as a IAM rider / driver, ride defensively & treat everyone as a potential idiot unless they prove otherwise
I think we all accept that what we do is extremely dangerous but we love doing it. We can’t do anything about other people’s driving so moaning about it achieves nothing. The only thing we can do is improve our own riding to minimise the risks as far as possible. Ive found advanced training has helped vastly reduce (but not eliminate) the numbers of near misses i experience. It may not have helped in the event that started this discussion but it does in many others. Other than that, we can just maintain our bikes and wear the right kit.
Getting angry about it gives you something to do but achieves absolutely nothing. Arguing about it definitely won’t help anything.

Yeh had one myself last Saturday thought he could pass some cyclists being there was a motorbike (me) coming the other way and I would move over, I didn’t which was a bit stupid on my part he could have swerved to cyclists or me but hopefully gave him a shock. Old guy with wife, neither looked at me I hope she gave him a telling off.
Techalogic helmet cam. Good quality fore and aft footage. Battery life extendable by a power pack. I have front and rear Vsysto cameras on all bikes but they tend to suffer from rain and road filth. My rear one failed to get reg no of the Corsa that rear ended me. Another slight problem was that our local constabulary couldn’t find or view the footage! When they gave me the card back I had no problem 
The only problem is having enough pocket space if I’m also using my electric visor with its power pack. Add in the heated gloves and my wiring loom is starting to resemble that of the bike.
