Sidestand.

I posted some pics of mine on one of the Guzzi Facebook pages late yesterday.

Yeah that’s the boy. Well done. And apologies everybody for the unsightly rust.

could do with a bit of grease on the Pivot afore it wears out in the next 200 hundred years !!

Looks similar to a B.S.A. A65 stand. I wil find one and see if it can be adapted.

The lack of grease ensures it doesn’t revert to spring back operation (ahem).

I think I actually modeled it on the A65 version as it happens. It’s just a bit of solid mild steel bar I turned down on a lathe. I think the work at the pivot end was only hack saw and file, I don’t remember milling it. Then drilled and tapped the holes to match the old stand, brazed on the spring tab - it’s one of the two original springs on it. Then finally bent it to give everything the right angle of dangle.

A few years back it all started to sag, and it turned out to be the lug on the frame real letting go. So that took some reinforcement too.

As an aside, I note in one of the pics you can just about see where I’ve had to weld extra strips underneath the centre stand feet, and added a brace where the spike started to tear that foot off.

Merry Christmas to all.
