Got a horrible feeling that is what it is - if it were the parasitic draw for a modern car it would be considered really good. I.e. low.
My standard V100, 15,000 mile. Ridden daily, no accessories fitted, not even a connecting my phone. Also doing mostly long trips, not town duty. Still charging light started to show in colder mornings(Where I live cold is anything below 10Deg Celsius). Also the battery barely had enough CCA to cranck the starter. I made a basic voltage check, and although the values looked reasonable(12.5V with switch on, didnt go below 10 volt when crancking, and around 14V at idle) the problem persisted. I opted to replace my battery, perhaps to early.
Since replaced no issue. Didn’t do any parasitic draw check. Bud did learned 2 things:
- Alternator belt feels loose. Replacement due soon in the service.
- I came across an internal Guzzi service bulletin which instructed dealers to perform an alternator output check.
Didn’t know it was belt driven so learned something new!
(Thought we got rid of a belt when MG stopped using a dynamo? )
Sorry about the delay, i’ve been out of comms for a while. The flashing red light goes off after a bit. Not measured the time but basically if I park it today it won’t be on tomorrow. I’m still in West Africa so cant check it now.
