Hey, colleagues!

Is there a way of getting the headlights to come on without running the engine?

I’m adjusting the aim of the main and dip beam lights, and I don’t want to have the engine idling continuously as it will probably annoy the neighbours.

At the moment I start the engine, switch on the headlights with the switch on the right hand cluster, and then stop the engine with the kill switch. The headlights remain on for a short interval - maybe half a minute?

Having to do this repeatedly is driving me nuts, and it’s probably almost as bad for my neighbour, too.

So, is there a way I can get the headlights on without having to run the engine?

If you dive into the menus, can you change the headlights from auto to manual? I haven’t tried this on mine, but I assume it must be possible.

FWIW, V7 850 is exactly the same. I haven’t found out whether it ever turns off after the kill switch has been thrown, and left like that.

Thanks guys - good idea about putting them to manual. I’ll try it when I get home and report back. (On hols for a couple more days.}
