What did you do with your Guzzi today ? 2021 .......

Today, I have mostly been knitting coloured spaghetti, working out a wiring loom for one of my Stornello projects. No smoke has escaped yet, but that is probably because I haven’t connected up the earth wire to the battery. That will be tomorrows delight.

Checked out a fuel leak on the Hardley carb on Saturday. As is usual with these things there was nothing to find, but hopefully a clean up will have helped.

Sunday I took a ride out to the Stonham Barns bike show in Suffolk. Didn’t think much of it, but it was only an excuse for a ride out and that was most excellent. A few Essex branch members attended but I’m not sure any coincided there.

Rode out to the Crown Wormingford last night. Which by chance is the late venue switch for the Essex branch meet up on Sunday now. The pub is known to me and my pals as The Rotting Sock after we called in there a couple of years ago whilst on a very wet off roading foray. One of the chaps had his socks drying on the board out front whilst we enjoyed their hospitality.

Anyway it was an 'orrible wet night yesterday, but it was good to get out anyway. I was on Hardley but my pal was Veefer mounted.

Hi Butch,
Why doesn’t your pal come to our Essex branch meetings? He’s clearly owned that bike from new. Was he expelled from the club for some misdemeanour ??

He was at the last one - riding ‘Brown’ my H1 when I was on ‘Jaws’ the sidecar outfit. He has been lumbered working weekends, but has recently jacked that in so should likely attend more routinely. He also has an '06 Griso he’s had from new.

Should be along Sunday. We’re off roading prior, so as long as we don’t prang up before we get there.

Cold up there today, but Good

After running into problems getting the dating certificate for my Stornello Scrambler which was a 160 frame and a 125 engine, I took a drive up to Liverpool yesterday to pick up a 125 frame with the correct ST prefix. Today was fabricating a few brackets to attach my mudguards etc onto the new frame.

Good luck, Don. You seem to get on with jobs very quickly. By chance will you end up with an extra curved type of airbox and covers? If so I will be interested in purchasing them for the one I have found here in SA which has been fitted with the incorrect, more modern, square type.

Cheers

Having made a few significant steps on getting the T3 California back on the road I decided to do the Historic Vehicle regiustration. Incredibly simple despite last being on the road in 2007.
MoT exemption form from the DVLA website.
Copy of insurance certificate.
V11.
Off to the post office and 5 minutes later I have an authorised confirmation .
New V5 to follow.

Happy days.
Steve

Had a few happy hours out riding the Essex trails on my SP(370) yesterday. Chanced upon a right dodgy looking bunch on the way round.

Today was more fabricating brackets and out with the welding kit. My welding is not very pretty, but the bits are attached securely and the blobs of weld are mostly out of sight. I am just recreating what I had done on the previous frame so it makes it a lot easier knowing just what I needed to do.
There is a good battery box and covers for sale in Italy, even at a decent price. Linky here…

Thanks Don.

Cyclobutch -

No Guzzi action for me this weekend. I know that it’s the DGR on Sunday but with the weather looking set pretty lousy and no group ride in Cambridge I’ll give it a miss - they can just have my entrance money this year.

I should have some garage action though. My Mother’s self propelled mower is playing up - either propelling when it shouldn’t or not when it should. So I’ve brought it home to put up on the table.

I’ve got the new Stornello frame almost ready for painting with a few brackets tacked on. I’m no expert welder, but it did become easier when I realised my auto helmet wasn’t working properly.
Today was making up a dash panel to house my cheapy Chinese GPS speedo and even cheaper Chinese ignition switch out of 3mm stainless. Got through a few drill bits and hacksaw blades in the process. Getting there, just needs a bit more rounding off of the corners.

Hi Don,

I se the bike is doing 10mph whilst still in the workshop. How fast will it go on the road??

Cheers
Phil

I’m hoping it will be a bit quicker than the Turismo, that does 50 down hill with the wind behind it
I’ve got a couple of sets of sprockets for it, one for green laning and one for road use. It will probably need a bit of experimentation once I get it on the road.

Hartside today,
Cafe’ still in the pipeline, cracking views and a cracking Burger

Been boatin rather than bikin. Did roll Blue out to park alongside my old Previa so I could use the battery from it to power the compressor to put some puff in the Previa tyres was all.

Went out to pick up a newly repaired leather jacket, and ended up heading to Llandrindod, up to Welshpool then back via b roads and singletrack roads. Got back just before the heavy showers hit!
