Zigolo spokes

Has anyone bought spokes for a zigolo on ebay? I found somewhere selling the rims so just looking for the spokes. My measurements are 160mm long. 2.5mm thick. The distance from right angle to the ‘mushroom’ end is 11mm. Looking at stainless ones. Just thought I’d ask here before I buy and make a mistake on the measurements. thanks.

Also when measuring spoke thickness do you take the tapered shaft or the thicker shorter section nearer the hub as the width of spoke??

There is a brilliant guide to measuring and ordering spokes on the Central Wheels WebsiteSpokesI thought the Zigolo had the same wheels as my Stornello, These have 17 inch rims and the spoke length was 164mm. I used spokes from a Honda 90, which were perfect for the job, not stainless or anything fancy, just Galvanised, but they look good. You can spend a lot of money on spokes and is it worth it for a Zigolo?I am interested in where you got your rims from, mine are 17 x 1.60 (or 2 & 1/4") with 32 spokes. They were a nightmare to find. I ended up with one old Boranni on the rear from a Lodola and the front has a 1.40 width rim of a kids moto cross bikeCub spokes

Great Don, thanks! Here’s the ebay link to the rims:

I’ll go with the cub 90 rear wheel spokes(164mm as you say? front are shorter) I know nonsolomotoguzzi in Italy sells rims and spokes but a spoke set for a zigolo is €140 for him. Far too expensive in my opinion. His rims are priced ok and are Radaelli.

Those rims must have come down in price, I am sure when I was looking they were about £150 for a pairAre you going to build them yourself? It is not that difficult. I taught myself, just don’t take both apart at the same time, then you have one to copy!

Don, you are a genius.

I am going to have a crack at building my front wheel now I have seen your set up. You need to write me an idiots guide.

With regards to spokes. I have a 2012 Honda Innova and the spokes are not wearing too well. I do ride it in all weather and I am sure your bikes will be cosseted. But stainless spokes are the best way to go I think. My Cardellino spokes are black.

Steve

The set up shown is to true up the wheel, once built. So long as you keep one wheel complete to copy the spoke pattern, you can’t go far wrong.

Worth buying a good quality spoke spanner too, it’ll last you forever.
