1100 Sport Corsa Clutch Rattle

Hi all,
Recently I have noticed a rattle coming from the clutch when I pull in the clutch lever. Is this normal wear and tare or is it leading to a more series problem?

I think they all do that. It’s called character

They do that so you know the gearbox hasn’t fallen off

Hi

on my V11, the rattle used to disappear when I pulled the clutch in but sounded like a rock crusher with the clutch out in neutral. The spines have a twin plate clutch usually, which rattle like hell on the drive splines, especially at high mileage. I would say nothing to worry about, assuming all other aspects of the clutch operation are normal.

Cheers

Jon

If it stops rattling it is like if you cannot hear the tappets, you’ve boogared something.

that is because it is your g/box making the noise! flick the clutch lever and it goes away !Â

Is it, this is the first I have heard that.
Not doubting your superior knowledge btw, but clutch plate rattle makes more sense.
Still nothing to worry about though.

No I think he means it must be the gearbox that’s making the rock crusher type noise. Pull clutch lever, (disengages clutch) gearbox stops turning, goes quiet.

Makes sense.
