Normal monthly breakfast meet at Hamish’s 09:00. Please leave a confirmation by Saturday noon if you plan on attending. There will likely be some GuzziFest planning for getting there on the Friday and a group ride out after the gathering.

Numbers looked low for the Pennine Branch monthly breakfast as I contacted Hamish’s on Saturday to advise, and suggested we may struggle to return a double figure head count. Come Sunday and a number of unconfirmed bodies turned in (not less cheefie) and twelve of us enjoyed in the bright sunshine and rising temperatures an El Fresco breakfast to the usual high standard Hamish’s provide.

Much speculation was placed on the Guzzifest weekend weather and plans for arrival shared, ensued by banter, touching on politics, diets, riding and our National Chairman’s recent Superman exploits.

We then turned our attention to a coddiwomple for the afternoon. There had been some aspirations by some newer attendees to visit Elaine’s café, but roadworks on the A65 quickly dissed that idea. Now a few weeks earlier John Wagg (one of our senior members whom sadly we see too little of these days) had contributed to our Facebook page some cafes on the W side of the M6. Looking the first one up we decided to give it a blind trial. Bridge 64 Café and Bar in Garstang.

Seven of us on Moto Guzzi and Slick on a Harley wannabe ‘onda headed off in convoy to Gisburn, Chatburn, Waddington, Hesketh Lane & White Chapel. These are low road of which a few were single-track and the well-watered flora draped onto the side of the road like rustic curtains of green, slowing progress but adding to the spectacle. The hills glistening lush is the high day sun and the road dust dry offering confidence inspiring grip levels. Crossing the M6 then turning N on the A6 before arriving at our destination quite uneventfully.

The service at Bride 64 was prompt, polite and proficient. The raspberry n white chocolate torte was understated in appearance but was wonderfully delicious. Other’s plates looked well adorned also. This with the aquatic quay side back drop in now strong sunshine had a positively Mediterranean feel. Excellent shout Mr Wagg.

Much more banter evolved, before some decided it was time to return home, but 5 of us decided to go up to Glasson Dock, at which point Graham also decided to part ways on arrival as planned. cheefie treated the remaining four of us to an ice creams and we sat on a dock side picnic bench putting the world to rights, being distracted by the beautiful views the sunshine reveals moving along the waters edge.

From there, cheefie and Slick headed off down a “no through road” for reasons best known to Slick, while Paul and I had a pleasant coddiwomple (but for Blackburn) back to Greater Manchester.

Great day. Thank you to all that attended or contributed in any way.

A grand day out Kevin, cheers for leading:+1::blush:
Also your excellent prose, reporting the days adventure, is why I suggested you write it, rather than I :memo::grin:
