The Article in Gambalunga a few months back suggests a solution for this, the author advises this was carried out on a Breva 1100.
Having had this occour on a 1200 sport I was looking to do the mod, but on inspecting the bike the plugs 61 & 62 do not appear to in the same location as on the Breava, has anyone done the mod on a 1200 sport 8 valve ?,and if yes could you advise the physical location of these plugs on the 1200, because I cannot seem to locate them. Thanks.
I did have a click no start issue which was down to water getting into the 5 pin relay with the diode. Never tried this option.
The relays are located on the sport on the right hand side when sat on the bike and can be seen better with the side panel off.
Thanks for the advice, I will spray the area you have mentioned with moisture repellant spray. The Diagram for the sport shows the connectors as previously mentioned, so I am removing the tank to see if they are located near the Ecu. Thanks again for the heads up re the relays.
OO,ER, You, certainly wasnt exaggerating when you mentioned water ingress!.
Do you remember which issue it was? I’ve been having the same issue with my 2011 Stelvio, I don’t use it very much but it did have a new battery recently. I was all ready to ride over to Brentwood today to visit my mother and it would not start, so I took the car. Got back and I jump started it from the car’s battery. I went out for a 20 minute ride and when I got back it started first prod. I guess I need to resolve it or ride it more!
Any advice would be welcome, best wishes Chris
Thank you Mackers,
I will read and digest this time!
Best wishes Chris

I have studied the article again and also bought the components. I have been unable to locate the sockets 61 and 62 on my bike referred to in the article. Looking at the wiring diagrams for the Norge and Stelvio, the sockets are present on the Norge but not on the Stelvio, so the fix will be different as I will have to wire the components into the harness. They will connect to terminal 4 on the blue side of the ECU.
I will have to strip the bodywork off to get a better idea of where to splice them in.
Fingers crossed
Hi Chris 950s, I am personaiiy reluctant to cut into wiring if poss. With my sport it generally fires after second push of the button, and as back up I carry a battery pack to boost the voltage if it does play up ( which so far I have never had to use). As I understand, it is voltage related so if the battery is in good order it should be a minor inconveniance rather that a major problem. JK757.
