Murphy’s Law and my incompetence have combined and I’ve lost my only spare set of pannier+top-box keys while I was on the way to the locksmith to get duplicates, so I need to get a new set of lock-barrels before I head off on a tour of Brittany week after next!
Are there any other twonks out there who have been in a similar situation and got new barrels? I can’t get into the boxes to get hold of box model numbers etc. as there are several different lock-barrel types on eBay and the usual UK suppliers.

if you ring a locksmith they may be able to pick the locks open for you and get the barrels out and match keys for them

Yeah, I did that and he used his little electric jiggler device to get at the barrel of the top-box but he can’t cut me a matching key for the barrel.
The pannier locks are more of a challenge so I’ve left one with him to see if he can figure a way in and I’ll pop in tomorrow to see if he’s had any success.
So worst case at the moment is to use some secondary locking mechanism (e.g. a small u-lock on the pannier-handles) and make some pretend barrels to work the latch mechanisms.
