1200 Sport pillion Seat Cover Fitment

Hi, finally getting around to plastic welding the snapped brackets from my seat. Unfortunately the original plastic is missing, but I still have the metal part.
My question is should the cover come lower than the main seat section itself so the bracket can extrude at 90 degrees? Or is the bracket curved slightly? I hope the pictures explain this a little better

Wow great thank you very much! Will deffo have to use metal reinforcement in the plastic.
