1990s left hand switchgear

Now, please bear with me! I have a 1978 Le Mans (well that is what is says on the V5C) but the frame no. equates to a Convert. The engine is from a T3, bored out to 950cc. My question

regards the switchgear, though, which appears to be CEV 1990s. I would like to try fixing the orange ‘passing’ button, which has lost its spring and possibly some thin metal plate that must connect the round button on one terminal inside the switch and the other terminal when the switch is pulled towards the ‘bars. What I would love is a photo of similar, or (as that would require some kind person taking their switch apart) maybe a diagram? I wonder if it is the same arrangement as the horn button? When I have worked out to add an attachment, I will, as someone may be able to identify the switchgear (they are hard to find on the internet!).

Hopefully an expert will be along, but I am pretty certain that this is not switchgear from a Le Mans, a Convert, nor indeed a T3.

Commonly PO’s might have added period Japanese switchgear to replace the (somewhat fragile) original switchgear from Tonti bars.

I don’t think that is original Moto Guzzi switchgear. A Google image search suggests that it is from a Ducati / Aprillia Here is the same switchgear

This confirms it is probably from a 750/900SS Ducati, but they are out of stock

Look on the bottom to see if there is a CEV reference number and google that

I agree with Don and Barry, what you need to do is identify which switch is connected to which wires with a multi meter or battery and bulb, then work out what they do. Draw a little diagram and then compare with a Tonti wiring diagram to see where they should fit. Most Guzzis of the 70’s and 80’s had a similar look with yellow wires for parking lights and clocks, indicators orange common, green/black for sinister and pink for dexter.

You will have to do some testing and sketching then scan your sketch onto here and I will be able yo identify what fits to where.

Thanks all - that was very quick and informative! It is definitely a CEV switch and I had a hunch it wasn’t necessarily a Guzzi one. My bike is an eclectix mix I have to say and I may expand on it in another forum! I am quite happy dealing with looms and wiring etc. (misspent youth dealing with various Morinis!); I was just wondering if anyone knew the mechanical makeup of the passing switch as the rest of the controls are absolutely fine and I would rather keep it. I might even make myself one as some of the Domino stuff available is quite a stretch for me at the moment (although not really that bad compared to some spares).

Looking at the ebay listing, it shows CEV 303 on the underside and Google lists many bikes that use the same switch such as Gileras, Fantic, Ducati, Cagiva etc. With a bit of searching, you should be able to find a cheap one for sale somewhere. Even a broken one would do if you can switch parts between them.

Whilst i hate to disagree with Don or Chris this style of CEV Switchgear was typically fitted to LeMans 1000, 1000S, Quota (i have one), Cali 3 etc as well as Ducati’s and Aprilia’s.

I have a s/h Switchgear that is missing the Lights Off, Side, Main Switch but has a good ‘Passing’ switch so you could make one good one from the two.

Don, that’s great sleuthing! I hadn’t thought to check the part no., and yes that does bring up some identical examples (and some not-so-identical). I am closer to a solution thanks to your help - much appreciated!
