I was changing fork oil on 1996 Cali1100 )i and I can’t get the damper rod fully extended so I can finish assembly. The circlip holding in the washer and seal was out of place . I reinserted the circlip and I obviously managed to compress the damper rod while fixing it. Now, I just cannot extend the damper rod out..any ideas?
It’s the damper rod in the cartridge btw..

What did you do to rectify this misshap.
I very slowly pulled the rod out. I set it at an angle of about 30 degrees. There was some oil slowly leaking out as I pulled the rod. It took about 30 mins.
