1996 Nevada wiring

Has anyone in Guzziland the correct wiring diagram for my bike? None of the available seem to be right. The frame label reads GUZZI LF. Serial 20603. 1996. The loom looks original. I have 2 relays. All the diagrams have either 1 or 3, and the colours don’t match anyway, making it impossible to check for broken wires etc. It was standing outside for 15 years. Before starting the rebuild last year I thought it prudent to try and get it working to evaluate likely problems. I replaced the relays and bases which were badly corroded, cleaned and checked the fuses and it started and ran!! I have double checked everything possible associated with wiring but all I get now is the neutral light coming on when I turn the ignition on, which seems like a possble faulty earth to me? Nothing else shows any sign of life - no horn, lights, indicators and no clicks from the relays. Any thoughts and help would be greatly appreciated

There is a selection of Nevada wiring diagrams on the Guzzitek

plus one other here..

Could it be an ignition switch fault? The neutral light works by completing a circuit to earth and the switch is on top of the gearbox behind the starter motor.

no other controls? many of them is fed by common +ve, with -ve closing the circuit. You’ll see it on above diagram. This +ve is fed from fuse no.2(fig.29 on diagram, top right corner). Also, this massive 15-pin connector under the tank carries distinctively thicker +ve and _ve, and a lot of corrosion happens there.

Thanks for the replies. I have this diagram and others I downloaded. Don’t think my relays are horn/side stand - wiring colours different. Same for fuses, plus this diagram has 4 fuse imputs but only 3 outputs? Pretty sure problem is something I’ve done/not done sinnce last July. She’s now relegated to the naughty corner while I play with a different toy to give my brain cells a chance to reset. Thanks again.

Hello

As far as I can see on Carl Allison’s wiring diagram there are only 2 relays shown, one for the horn and one for the starter motor. The side stand has a switch (number 33 on his diagram) not a relay that makes/breaks the feed to the ignition circuit.

Also beware with Carl Allison’s colours as he sometimes gets blue (Bl) and white (Bi) confused from the original Italian. I haven’t drawn this model myself yet, and I can’t find a workshop manual for the 1990’s Nevada to work from, do you have one?

The fuse box has 4 fuses, the brown wire from the ignition switch feeds both the top 2 in the diagram (usually linked by a short wire), starting from the top fuse 1 feeds the starter motor relay and the rear brake light switch, fuse 2 feeds front brake light switch and the lights, fuse 3 appears to be lights and indicators with fuse 4 the hazard lights straight from the battery. I am not sure about all this as I would prefer to check it against a factory wiring diagram. As I said above the colours could also be wrong!

Best wishes Chris

Thanks for your reply. I have this diagram, along with another different one, both supposedly for this model. I replaced the relays and bases before I had a wiring diagram, just copying positions. I then tried turning on and it all worked! Now it is virtually dead. My diagram has a direct lead from the battery to fuses 4,3 and 2. Yours just to fuse 4 and colours seem to be different. For the moment I am leaving the Guzzi alone and playing with other toys. I am going to try and attach my diagram to this message but not sure how to do it. The definitive diagram would help immensely. As a really old fart I really appreciate all the help I am being given .

Hold on, you say your frame is LF, 1996, so - carb. The diagram you attached is LK with Digiplex(am I right, it reads the spark timing from the flywheel, not from the front?), and I’d say - look for the diagrams where Generator/regulator looks the same. What is yours?

The link above has many different diagrams for the Nevada. Have a look at the selection, here’s the link again

I have digiplex 20. Don’t know where spark timing comes from. Only obvious wiring coming from front.

Been on all sites for wiring. Nearest is the one from Don. Still disenchanted. Will play after Easter. Thanks again
