2012 V12, Service alert, Speedo dead

Hello all… Recent purchase left on trickle charger for a month since first ride. Red light and service warning now displaying and speedo dead, although it does do the full scan on start up. I will find somewhere local ( Colchester ) to have a look but wondered if anyone has any ideas or if it’s a common issue. It still seems to ride fine but it’s now a danger near speed cameras… Thanks

Welcome to the forum!

Colchester Kawasaki sell new Guzzis but seem to be a dead end for older models. Sycamore Motorcycles in Witham have started selling Guzzis but would not look at my Stelvio, we only have the tools Sir for the new bikes!

Bridge Street Motorcycles also in Witham but not Guzzi specific. Newcomb Brothers in Chelmsford used to sell and service Guzzis, I know as I bought mt Stelvio from them in 2011, they no longer sell Guzzis but have still serviced my bike regardless.

This year’s MOT will be at Bridge Street MC and I’ll get them to sort out a few niggles.

Best wishes Chris

Try disconnecting battery and resetting everything via the onboard computer. Had a similar issue with my Breva 1100 when trickle charger was attached a while back. Reset it and dispensed with Optimate and it’s been fine since. If battery needs a charge it can easily be removed from the bike but if in regular use not a problem - cars in regular use don’t need trickle chargers and a regularly used Guzzi shouldn’t either. How old is battery? If over 5 years may be time to get a new one.

Also worth checking for any recorded display or ECU faults - red light of doom is often the oil pressure sensor connection (or bad sensor). Easy fix but a bit fiddly. My bike is a Breva but assume familiar issues on other CARC models.

If the speedo sensor fails that causes an error on the dash - triangle of doom.
