2013 V7 slight backfire

Hello! I’ve had my first ride of my 2013 V7. It’s a bit of a dream bike for me, I had one as my computer desktop background when the modern classics first came out and when I saw this one in the same colour, I had to get it!

I’ve only had a couple of rides on it but i’ve noticed occasionally when I throttle off there’s a bit of a popping from the left exhaust. Not too loud, certainly not a bang. I wouldn’t have thought anything of it other than the fact it is only coming from the left.

Is it a symptom of anything? Or am I worried about nothing?

The usual cause of a bit of popping in the exhaust with the throttle closed is a slight leak where the exhaust goes into the head. You could try and nip the bolts up a bit, but be careful, these have a habit of siezing up and shearing if overtightened.

Has it been modified at all?

No not as far as i’m aware. All the paperwork suggests it’s been looked after carefully and sympathetically.
