2019 V85TT Purchase

Hi everyone,

All my limited Moto Guzzi experience is with the old Tonti framed models but I’d like to add a modern bike for touring.

I’ve ridden a few, including friends Honda Transalp and Tenere. They were capable but for me lacked a bit of character. A 2023 V85 I tried felt right!

I’m buying second hand and had targeted a 2022 or later model for the tubeless tyres and more torque.

However a clean, low mileage, 1 owner 2019 model is available to me.

Are these early models ok assuming recalls have been done?

Also with mostly electronic records these days is there any way to check on recalls being completed?

Thanks!

Try the App Car Vertical, it is advertised as giving all relevant information about a vehicle.

go to the dvla website, enter the vehicles reg, it will show you how many owners . and also a link for recalls at the bottom
you can also check the mot history, good source for catching out the liars !!
I looked at two cars, one seller was full of it, MOT history showed far too many advisories and prev fails, other one was higher mileage but just an odd advisory for disc wear. sorted before sale

Thanks. Very useful - enough for me to decide not to buy this bike!

Hello, I live in Toronto and bought my V85TT in March 2020. I have ridden it in all weather conditions and have ventured out at least 1 day per month in each year. I have a number of mods all bought from Gutsibits which have improved the performance no end. I have not had a problem with the bike and in talking to other owners everybody is impressed. I have just replaced the tyres at 23,000 K, they still had life in them but did not fancy scrubbing a new pair in in winter which will start at the end of september. Belive me. I have riden it on some long trips (800k in a day), great MPG, nice and comfy.

Hello Mick,

Thanks for your message.

That’s great to hear.

I’ve decided not to go with this particular bike for sale for a few reasons, one of which, the owner has not had any of he recalls addressed.

Having had feedback from you and others, I’m now confident of the bike and the earlier model years.
