2025 model engine bar fitting

Ive got a set of genuine Moto-Guzzi engine bars for my 2025 model V85TT and fitting looks pretty straight forward apart from the left, rear mounting point. There’s an electrical connector in the way. I think its fixed by the screw I need to mount the engine bar to. Is that correct? Do I refit the plastic part on top of the engine bar? Or am I confused and looking at this wrong?

hi Steve,

not sure if these are the same but probably are:

Thanks for that. Ive already got those instructions. They don’t show the electrical bit thats in the way

I’ll go and take a photo of mine, it’s 2021 but it might be the same

I don’t have that electrical bit

Maybe I just need to remove it and replace it with the engine bar in place. The bars appear to be the same for all model years. Ill have a crack at it tomorrow

Well I’ve done it and thought it was worth leaving a few notes for anyone else who may look this up in the future.

The cable connector on the LH side shares the fixing with the engine bars. The bar goes over the cable and then the plastic piece sits on top of it. Re-use the original bolt (same as the new one in the engine bar kit) and the stepped washer which allows you to torque the bolt down without crushing the plastic. It’s tricky but be patient and you’ll get there. I also removed the cover from the injector to give more room for an allen key. A ball end allen key is essential for this job. You’ll need something to extend it for a bit of leverage as you’ll have the long end on the bolt.

I found the bosses on the front of the bike frame had paint in the threads and needed tapping through, to do that, I unbolted the mudguard (4 nuts underneath) and carefully lowered it to rest on the wheel. To be honest, it made accessing these bolts much easier so worth doing anyway. It was also worth removing the horn to make it easier to get the bolts in and ensure the cables running down the frame tubes were clear.

The manual posted above suggests removing the exhaust guards but there’s no reason to do that. It’s not in the way at all. Removing the brake reservoir bolt was worth doing and made it easier.

Other than that, you’ll just need a good range of profanity and deaf neighbors. The vicar next door did not look impressed.

The job took me about an hour including working out the bits above.
