Morning all. My 850 Mk1 has a 950 conversion and the barrels and heads are away for refurbishment at the moment. The barrels has been lightly flash honed and are currently 88 + 0.0015” but still have some wear showing. I have had a look at Gutsibits and they do 88mm rings but not sure how big I can go on the bore before the rings will have too large a gap? Does anyone do oversize pistons or rings?
Appreciate your help
Jamie
You could try Cox & Turner or F W Thornton for rings. Between them they sorted me out for both my pre-war Rudge and my 50’s Ducati single. Both sets of rings have needed gapping correctly as they seem to supply slightly bigger but that’s not difficult to do.

It might be my only option is to get a new set of pistons and barrels or to have the originals re-sleeved if possible. I think cost wise, it would be about the same. It’s a shame you can’t get oversized pistons any more.
I have a perfect set of 950 barrels and pistons that have done 1500 miles minus piston rings if you are interested. Would be looking for £250 plus postage.

88.4mm is the next size of rings for the 950 barrels with steel liners. I sourced some 88.4mm ring sets from TLM Nijmegen, but still haven’t sourced any 1st oversized pistons for my very worn out SP barrels..
