Looking for higher rise bars. Gutsibits seem to have a number of pairs that would suit. Does anyone know the correct height for this model?
The bars currently fitted are low and surprisingly narrow.
Do you think the bars currently fitted to your T3 are not standard, then? Certainly I don’t think of mine as being low and narrow…
I can have a look and measure up mine when I get home this evening, as I think they are original (from an early 1975 model).

I don’t know the “correct” dimensions, and do not recall ever having seen such dimensions in any of the parts lists that I have seen, but when I was checking out different bars for myself, a while back, I did find some dimensions on a USA parts site - these may at least be helpful for setting a “control” and/or establishing what you might have.

Gutsibits also seem to offer some bar dimesonsions for some of their stock. Hope thiis helps.
I think the bars are not standard and in truth the chrome isn’t in great condition.
I have a brochure for the bike and it shows higher bars, maybe not as high as some of the USA models I’ve seen.
Thanks Barry… I just want a slightly more upright position than I have at the moment so the exact size probably isn’t necessary . I just want to avoid buying a set that are too high
Understood. But unless you measure what you have and obtain some idea of the measurements of the bars you purchase/intend to purchase, you might end up with several sets of bars that don’t work for you. Guess how I know? (o; Good luck.
By way of example: I thought that, as I was so comfortable with the dimensions of Cali T3 bars then something similar work on my 1000SP ‘roadster’. Wrong. Of course, I know realise, hands, feet and arse are in different places on different bikes, so where your hands end up, well… not necessarily comparable!
Hi Jim. DId you get a chance to measure theT3 bars?
Apologies,
Yes, did some measurements and joted them down but forgot to write a reply!
The overall max width of the bars from tip to tip (but including any parts of the grips beyond the actual bar ends) is approx 31.5" - that is 80cm.
The central (clamped) section is approx 7" wide - that is 18cm
Similarly the riser sections at an angle are also approx 7" long - 18cm
Given the angle of the riser sections, the bars rise approx 5.5" (approx 14cm).
Does that all make sense?
The only caveat I have for my measurements is that mine is a very early 1975 model (January) exported to USA, but looking at photos I’ve seen of other early T3s, and knowing my bike’s history I think they are the standard bars.
Given the dimensions of the bars as quoted by MG Cycle and referred to by Barry, they would seem to be the same as mine.
I hope this helps!
Jim
