A Grand Day Out

Despite apologies received from a number of regulars – all for the best of reasons – there was a fabulous showing for Sunday’s Devon Branch rideout, when no fewer than seven machines turned up at Buckfastleigh for the 10.30 off. An invigorating ride up to the Moor under cloudless skies was followed by a meandering route on minor roads, past forest and field, finally ending up (to the surprise of many, by that stage thoroughly lost) at Powderham Castle for a slap-up lunch.

Our first attempt at using the drop-off system has to be judged a partial success – we will get better! – and proved its worth when Bill’s Cali started misbehaving on the descent from Haldon Hill. Help was soon at hand and the group quickly reassembled.

Wayne is your Ride Captain for the next run – 17 May, save the date – and I’ll eat my hat if he doesn’t try to bamboozle us into crossing the border (into Cornwall)!
