Alternative air filters.

Has anyone got any experience of fitting alternative air filters to a 1996 750 Nevada ?

The air box was so complicated to get to I would like to delete it and fit maybe some K&Ns

Any advice or pointers will be most welcome, thank you.

Not on your Nevada, but I have fitted K & N’s to my Spada 1000. One consideration is what you do with the engine breathers that will currenty vent and drain through the air box in order to reduce emmisions, not that that is an issue on an old bike, but maintaining an effective breather is important. Some sort of catch tank is usually used to vent the gases into and to drain any condensate back to the sump.

Thanks for the thoughts Don, on my Nevada the rocker box vents and the vent from the sump, or is it a drain back down to the sump?, all go into a collector box tucked up in the steering head. The pipe that went from the collector box to the air box I have re directed into a catchment bottle. Now I need some sort of filter to stop all the FS1Es going in. And any experience with re jetting would be interesting.

My experience with the small block ownership was a Lario a few years ago and that had a breather collector box and a return pipe that took any oil back to the bottom left corner of the sump.
General opinion is to increase the main jet size by about 10% when fitting K & N filters. I fitted some to my Spada many years ago & left the jetting as standard and it has worked fine ever since.
I would give it a try and see how it goes, keep an eye on the plug colours for a while.

I fitted a LeMans breather box to my Spada and did the 10% upjet . Worked very well.
