In the process of changing alternator bushes and after removing the 3 bolts holding the alternator housing, said housing doesn’t want to move let alone come off, does it need a little ‘‘persuasion’’ ??? or have I not done something ???

I’m thinking that you have the outer cover off - 4 screws, and are now looking at the stator itself. It just sits on an alloy lip with a light interference fit, but is prone to corrode a bit. If I’m right (wait for 2nd and 3rd opinions here) then it will just need persuasion as you say, but take care.
Used a puller (very gently) and it came off easily
I was going to say, can be stiuck on, “bit of persuasion” usually works.
