Last night I dreamt I had a breakdown on the Griso. Bit odd cos she’s never had a problem, or even a hint; starts pretty much first time.
So we go out at 06:15, and…AT 06:30 SHE BREAKS DOWN.
OK, technically we ran out of petrol, but we were still stuck at the side of the road phoning the RAC, who logged it as a breakdown, so it still counts.
So the question is: am I psychic? Or just a dick for running out of petrol?
The Griso tank is just too small. 15 litres, that’s tiny. And I bet the reserve is super tiny, And when ridden correctly she’s rather thirsty. But she’s Italian, so that’s the deal. She’s designed to be beautiful, desirable & loadsa fun. You want practicality, reliability & all that? The BMW dealership is over there, Sir…
I put reserve taps on my 1100i because the original ones, with no reserve, leaked and were no longer available. Didn’t do me any good because the mesh filters actually acted as a syphon, so it used the reserve even when on main, the low fuel switch packed up, which I didn’t notice and I ran out of petrol.
Changed the filters for some old ones I had off my Spada which were better and put in a new switch (again not original because not available with a slightly different reserve setting) but I still don’t trust it.
I didn’t know it was possible to put reserve taps on a fuel injected bike. I was told it’s impossible due to the pump pressure and I never actually questioned it.
Every day’s a school day and I need to do some investigating!
Maybe … when you put the bike away last time, you knew it was low on fuel. You had almost forgotten this fact but your subconscious remembered.
Or maybe you’re psychic.
