Anyone toured Iceland on their bike?

Elaine and I are looking at taking the bikes (v85tt’s) to Iceland next year, probably in July. The plan is to get the Hull to Rotterdam ferry, then ride up through Holland, Germany and Denmark to take the ferry to Iceland via Faroe. Once there. We want to do the coast road around Iceland with some trips into the interior on the many gravel roads. Has anyone on here done the trip and could offer any advice re’ the state of the roads in the interior, recommendations for ‘must see’ locations etc?

Sorry, I have no recent knowledge or really useful info to share, but I recall there was a chap who worked at Freddie Frith motorcycles in Grimsby who toured Iceland many years ago on an MZ150, Val Ebernezersson.
He was a super-talented engineer and had Icelandic heritage hence his trip.
He said it was a fantastic place to visit.
Grimsby was home to many Icelandic folk, drawn by the fishing connections. I’m not sure how he traveled over, there used to be a passenger ferry from Immingham, but that’s long gone. I looked at possible options to Esbjerg myself a little time ago, but while there’s many ships crossing that route, (the renewable industry use it a lot) theses days the vessels are only licensed to carry freight, which is a shame as previously my brother has traveled over on various cargo ships to Rotterdam.
Is it not easier to travel up to Scotland and then via Shetland/Faroe etc.?
Sounds like a great trip, keep us updated :+1:
I’m hoping to get up to the Norway coast road sometime, that also looks like ‘fun’.

Watched a couple of people’s YouTube vids about it, namely Itchy boots and Free Miles MC, might put you off tho!

Dave Pegg from Crewe went earlier this year, but I don’t know if he comes on here.
He also went to Faroes, which I think is on the ferry route.

Was in Iceland over the summer in a camper van. Saw several bikes and spoke to a Romanian on a Kawaski cruiser who commented how the ferry was full of GS’s. Route 1 round the island is very good but away from route 1 may need a bit of off road ish capability.

Yes. We are definitely going to do it. Going to start a bit of green leaning on smaller bikes initially to build a bit more off road experience and then start practicing on the Guzzi’s.
