My inbox says I have 56 from 80 messgaes and is 70% full. I have tried to delete some, but there doesn’t seem to be a delete button. The message system is truly awful to use.
I think I remember being told they sit in the Outbox until read.

The outbox only empties when the message is read,
If you check the box beside the message then below is a box with commands, you can delete all or just selected messages.

In the inbox where the messages are listed there is a small box to the right of each message, if you tick the ones you want to delete, then below the list of messages there is another box mark all / unmarked all, if you click on the downward arrow it opens a couple of options one of which is delete marked messages.
A convoluted way to explain something straightforward I’m afraid but hopefully it helps.

I have just discovered something -
Go to “new messages” at bottom of page (your user panel private messages).
Click on “Rules, Folders and Settings”
At the bottom is “If folder is full”, the default is “Do not accept new messages”
Above that you can select the button for “Delete oldest messages”, then click “Change”. That should stop new messages being rejected.
