B11 rear brake binding

Hi guys, I noticed my rear brake was binding on the Breva 1100,so had the calliper overhauled but the problem still exists :frowning: The pedal has no free play at all and I am wondering if there is any adjustment at the master cylinder behind the footrest plate? If I need to get at the master cylinder, is there anything to be wary of in removing the footrest plate?
Thanks in anticipation
Andy

Hi, had that a few years ago on my griso and it was the master cylinder siezed.Fitted new cylinder(took the boot off before fitting and gave it a liberal dose of rubber lube). On the griso it is held on by 2 bolts which can be accessed without removing side plate and just slide cylinder off of actuating rod.

Thanks for the reply, it’s looking like the master cylinder is the culprit…

Check the holes from the reservoir down into the piston barrel are clear. A bit of muck in there will stop the fluid returning and hold the piston down.

Cool! Thanks, will do :+1:

a possibility could be the metal spring plate that locates inside the caliper to align the pads either is displaced and or not located properly or that it is worn and is causing the pad to bind and not “flow”

You are quite correct Brian - it’s all sorted now, the problem was a burr on the spring clip - 2 minutes with a Dremel and job done!
