Evening,Took the original air filter off of my new to me 1000 spnt and as I have read the horror stories by the tortured souls on the site I did find it quite a fight I am intending to change to pod type filters and have read a bit about using Lemans breather box .My question is can I use the original breather box that is already fitted to my bike as part of the airfilter ,all the pipes are there
cheers Neil
If it’s like the type on my Spada, you will need to change it to the Le Mans style. I can’t recall exactly why, but you will probably have some pipes that don’t join up somewhere. Possibly the breathers from the rockers covers need new homes, or you could blank them off. Loops don’t have them.

Thank you for the reply I have not really looked at it yet ,I will have a squint tomorrow cheers Neil
I guess you are suggesting leaving the air box in place with the breathers connected and fitting K&N type filters. I don’t think they would fit on the carbs with the air box in place.
I have K&N’s on mine and I fitted a Le-Mans style breather catch pot to link up the breathers. One large outlet comes from the main crank case chamber (via the bell housing) There is a vent off each rocker boxes.
There is a return pipe that takes any oil that condenses in the box back to the sump.
There is a large pipe that vents to air
I have also done this - what Don said - can’t make the original oil catcher work with pod filters, or anything else (apart from stock filter housing) - no way out of it except do it properly with a LM catch box and associated plumbimg. Is also much neater. Hope this helps. Do not be tempted to just run the breather hose into an old coke can or something like that. Guess how I know!
Sorry for late reply LM breather it will have to be cheers Neil
