Just before I jump in with both feet to change the air filter for the first time on my Breva. Are there any useful tips please?
Valium at the ready.
Pete.

All done. Not too bad a job.
I’m glad you got so much useful advice!
My one bit of advice is to Buy a K+N filter and then you don’t have to do it again.
Thanks Ian
I had already got a new filter in the service kit from Guzzibits, but I’ll probably go for a performance filter next time. The worst part is removing and re-fitting the tank, and am I the only one who struggles to get the tank far enough forward to get the bolt back in?
Just had a 600 mile trip round Wales and back through the Cotswolds at the weekend. What great little bikes they are. I just wish I could eliminate the surging through the closed-loop fuellling issue. Despite having my Finebau set with the number 1 switch up only, for the maximum fuelling position it’s still pain.
Pete.
You do not need to remove the tank to change the air filter.
And yes, refitting the tank is a pig of a job.
And I’ve just had a weekend in Shropshire on it. brilliant.

use an allen bolt , your tank is expanding due to ethanol , maybe trim the front rubbers a bit
Thanks for that, hadn’t thought of ethanol.
Baldrick you are a star, much easier to just shave the rubbers a bit rather than resort to large tyre levers, a big rubber hammer and numerous vile oaths all of which were employed in my last Man v Plastic Tank battle.
Cutting down the rubbers it is then.
Expanding tank caused by the fuel? That pesky Ethanol and EU fuel legislation - what we need is a referendum!
What I want is a steel tank as this bike is a keeper.
Or a nice polished Alloy one.
Nicely polished, you’ve never met me.
I understand you can replace the filter without removing the tank, has anybody had a go at this
I have done it but I have small hands. You remove the grille in front of the tank and the finned electrical component and then with a Long screwdriver you can undo the screws on the front of the filter box and fiddle and I do mean fiddle the filter out and the new one in. If you have the luxury of a bike lift it wont be too bad but if you’re kneeling on dodgy knees it is literally a right pain.
Thanks for that,i will give it a go
I don’t take the tank off.
You need a long Philips and a very short one or one of those short ratchet screwdrivers with multi heads.
Use some penetrating spray first, and copperslip before you replace the screws.
Plenty of Vaseline on the rubber part of the new filter.
Do not allow small children near you whilst doing this.
I’ll be watching these posts very closely from now on
The B750 air filter replacement can’t possibly be harder than the early Nevada or carbed Hinkley triple!
Jon
Don’t put money on it.
I did do it without taking the tank off,and now i have done it, it will be quicker next time, having said that i fitted a k and n filter which should last a lot longer.I found it a lot easier to remove front grill ,voltage regulator and left hand tank fairing and then wriggle it out the left hand side.
