Breva 750 dash light staying on!

Hi everyone, Newbie to this forum, having just aquired my first Guzzi, a 2008 750 Breva. I have an issue with the dash, with the ignition off (key removed) the oil warning lamp is still illuminated. The previous owner was aware of this and said it’s sometimes one of the other warning lights that stays on.
Before I start trying to strip the instrument binnacle down, has anyone come across this fault before??
Thanks in advance!

I don’t have one and I am not an expert, but if the fault is ‘moving around’ it makes me think there’s water in the dash, if so needs removing pronto as corrosion of the electronics is also an issue.

There are a few wiring diagrams available here, not sure what the differences are

Thanks for these! Looks like everything is incorporated into the dash! I’ll take a brave pill and get the mini screwdrivers out!!

I have read about old Piaggio scooters with the ‘digi-dash’, that does everything (including indicators), where water has got in and the bottom edge of the circuit board is sitting in a puddle. Doesn’t do it any good at all! :astonished:

Quick update… Removed the dash unit, and on stripping off the outer cover, there is some ‘burning/scorching’ at the end of the multi-pin connector. There is no evidence of any moisture in the unit, so I’m guessing something has overheated - high resistance joint or something similar perhaps. Looks like I’ll have to either live with the light staying on, or fork out the £500 for the one I’ve seen at ‘Parts Republick’
Thanks for the comments/suggestions, much appreciated.

Or stick some tape over the offending light! :upside_down_face:

I’m curious what in the dash is taking so much power to overheat terminals, albeit with high resistance (bad or loose) contacts … :astonished:

On closer inspection, it’s terminal 29 on the multi connector that seems to have been subjected to heat - although not enough to melt any of the plastice, just dark discolouration. It’s the main +ve feed from the fuse, which also supplies the ignition switch.
Still none the wiser what caused it though. Managed to source a new dash unit in Holland, supposedly in MPH! Hope this cures it as it wasn’t cheap!!

Last update…problem solved with fitting the new dash unit. If anyone needs spares (other than the PCB) :grinning: for their dash give me a shout!!!
