Well that was a pig of a job!
Just changed my oil pressure switch as the dash had recorded a fault code and the red triangle had appeared!
Having read historic posts on various forums it seemed wise to replace unit rather than just faff around with the connection. Cheap part but had to obtain mine from Germany as Gutsibits had none in stock. A better design than the now obsolete mushroom headed connector part.
To gain access the left hand exhaust header needed removal and then lots of fiddling and cursing to undo old sensor. Once I managed to get my 21mm spanner to locate with the old sensor I found it was just a fraction over hand tight and easy-ish to remove with my non-dominant hand. Everything went back together OK albeit slowly but pleased I managed the job without removing the tank (which, being plastic, would probably swell and be difficult to re-ft).
Checked bike started, cleared codes and rewarded myself with a croissant and coffee.
Job itself is a doddle but access to very limited working space made time spent longer than desirable. Will probably tidy and re-check wiring in winter when bike is off the road (fair weather rider) as I also plan to replace air filter, check valves and replace inner spark plugs while my dash clocks are sent away to be internally cleaned and re-sealed as a precaution.
Guzzi’s are generally easy to work on but I’m sure some jobs have puzzle solving built in to keep us mentally active!
