Hi. Just wondering if anyone has experience of fitting and using budget running lights.
We have a 2022 V85TT but are not in the market for the £400 plus Guzzi ones.
There are plenty of running lights on ebay quite cheap.
Does the V85 come with a socket or plug for the running lights to connect into?
And if so, is it a 3-pin Superseal?
If so, I may be able to help?
Hi . There is a 3 pin plug under the front left hand panel behind the head stock . I don’t thing it is sup
Can you get a photo of it?
You could buy some cheap running lights from eBay and then use a Thunderbox by Healtech to power them. A genius device which connects to your battery and then lets you add up to 4 or 8 accessories for power. The Thunderbox turns all power off when you switch the bike off and automatically turns power back on once the battery is up to full capacity after you start the bike each time. Costs about £80. I’ve used them for some time now on several bikes - brilliant!
Hi Speedy23. I will have a look when I return from holiday. Thanks for you help
Hi Paulc911
I will look this up when I get back from holiday. Sounds a good way to avoiding getting involved with the canbus.
Hi Motoguzzitrev1
Thanks . Not sure if I need such a high power output.
I got some lights from ebay. Connected them via a relay from the dip lights so no handlebar switch. Single in-line fused wire from battery to relay. All ewell under £20. On my older bike just took power direct from headlight circuit as cob lights use virtually no power.
Well…almost.
Usually about 0.8 - 0.9 A apiece…
I had already swapped the halogen main beam for LED already so it was well within scope to add extra to the same circuit. I did the calculations but cannot remember the numbers. I do remember the price of a replacement light switch of £70 plus postage from USA if I burned it out, so a mini relay was inserted. Belt and braces.
Thanks to everyone for the help and advice. I have purchased a set of Propod lights from Amazon for £36.00. Direct connection to the battery with a fused link.
They are 15 watt spots and seem to do the job well.
We have had several Audi drivers flash up in the day time so we know we are now being seen lol
perhaps they need adjusting so that you dont dazzle people
my younger brother toured europe with me and loves his fairy lights, people kept flashing him
I pointed out that the lights were set for UK, but being a BMW owner he would not believe that their was any adjustment !! two minutes with an allen key and job done, then reset when we came back, they should have the same cut off as dipped headlights unless you have them wired to main beam
a reasonable test is normal distance behind a standard motor car, not a fatmobile, the cut off should be level with the top of the number plate
I hope this has worked. Not to good with this stuff.
Installation was quite easy.
They are very bright for 15 watts so effective as daylight running lights
