Hi - I have fitted a new external pump which has run fine for several months. Now - after standing for a few weeks - the pump doesnt spin up to pressure. It seems to pulse at a rate of about 5 per second. Any ideas please?
Battery is fully charged. Cranks over OK but doesnt fire. Everything else working. Petrol cock heard to open - not yet flow tested. Thanks for your help - Geoff
It could be a pump itself not fluid-tight? Then it makes up the pressure, then it looses it, then it makes it up again… that’s first thought. My jet wash did the same when hose became punctured… “Standing for a few weeks” also may explain a lot if you take modern fuels into account.
Thanks adamigo - you could have a point with modern fuel - I wonder if there is an ‘air-lock’ of ethanol? Or maybe just a leak letting air in. There is no evidence of fuel getting out - although it does evaporate of course. I will pull off a pipe when it stops raining. thanks again
Check flow of fuel from pump with hose removed if still pulses it’s a pump or feed issue.
