Couple of things that might help. Not charging, found spade connections from alternator badly corroded replaced with Wago fittings. Today reluctant to start, turning over well again fuel pump relay connections corroded couldn’t source relay however Bosch sell I think the same on Amazon at £3.49. Noticed also that connectors under the tank are not great however the quick release fuel pipe has defeated me previously I am now determined to conquer this thing soon. The diagram I have the fuel pump is linked to relay but I don’t see coil connection a feed 31 from ECU but? May have got this wrong but not clear to me. Generally I think all connectors need examination n clean for reliability not done many miles but getting on a bit Regards Ratt
I know Guzzis have always had a ‘reputation’ for poor wiring but it shouldn’t be that bad! I think I’d arm myself with a spray can of contact cleaner and dump a rainstorm on anything that looks remotely like a connector. Relay bases can be dosed with dilectric grease - I haven’t used it on ECU/dashboard connectors but it should be okay.
Whatever you do, don’t ever be tempted to use vaseline on battery or relay terminals (or any terminals for that matter). It’s petroleum-based (yeah - I know - ‘Petroleum Vaseline’!) and it will rot the rubber/plastic over time. Dilectric grease is silicone-based and is formulated for that game. Bog-standard silicone grease (‘brake grease‘) is okay too but it’s not as clever as dilectric.
