I have now got all the bits to replace the fuel lines and the fpr. I haven’t taken the injectors out yet but that is next on the list. Whilst I’ve been waiting for random deliveries and the fpr to wind a route around varies countries I have been cleaning the tank out… got a good handful of rust flakes out. Also some strange white chalky / sandy substance, I haver no idea what that is!?! Currently the tank is sitting full of vinegar for a few days. Once that is drained/ rinsed it will all be going back together. Fingers crossed that’s as far as I need to go but I’m not ruling out a pump issue or the tps..
So on the endless list of things one wants to change as one goes along….. I really don’t like the oem bolts that hold the injectors in. Has anyone replaced these for something less prone to rounding off?
As long as the head fits in the space, I tend to convert to stainless capheads. Although I have a Cali 1100ie, I can’t go and check because I converted to carbs and sold the throttle bodies a few months back.
Thanks Dai, I’ve ordered some stainless countersunk torx replacements. I was going to send the injectors off to be cleaned etc but after a few you tube videos I ended up attempting the DIY clean with some spare fuel hose, a can of carb cleaner, 12 volt battery and a bit of deft wire tapping. Surprisingly easy I have to say.
So, it’s all back together. Injectors cleaned and refurbished, tank cleaned, fuel pipes changed, filters changed, fuel pressure regulator changed. Started her up…. Still running weird and the pump still squealing away. Found a new pump cheap on Amazon. Changed that no bad noises, idling much better but still not quite right. Changed the relays but that made no difference. So I guess the last thing to do is balance the throttle bodies and check the tps. It’s not ideal but at least now I can go out for a ride in the sun buy tightening the throttle pull cable a bit! The throttle body itself is very tacky, as in sticky. The throttle Def does not snap back the way I would expect it too… have to say I have never learnt so much so quickly about a bike I have just bought!
Great news Jeff! I somehow managed to sort my old fpr by attaching an old bit of fuel pipe to it, filling it up with carb/injector cleaner then pressurised it with a bicycle track pump that was mcgyvered to the end of the fuel pipe…
