Hi, I have bought an old rear hub and want to lace a new alloy rim onto it. It is the chrome steel rim type, not the alloy tubless rim type. Does any member on here know what the offset is for the rim to the hub? Alternatively, do you know of anyone or anywhere that I may find this information?
Does any member have their rear wheel off their machine at the moment that could measure the offset, measuring from the face on the drivebox side of the hub?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Do you have an existing rear wheel built up that you can take dimensions from?
From a quick look, I can’t find much info in the workshop manuals for the Cali’s from that era.
Thank you for the response, Don.
I’m not too enthusiastic to remove the rear wheel to measure the offset, as I use the Cali daily. I did use a laser to measure the offset and make it to be 50mm from the face of the hub (drivebox side) to the centre of the rim.
Can anybody on here confirm this?
I have a spare cast alloy wheel for a Cali 3 up in the garage loft. I can take a look at that for you tomorrow.
I did have a read of Guzziology, but that doesn’t make any reference to offsets. It does say the following
The parts references are corect other than the listing for the l0 spokes of 170-mm length. Rather than 0363 1100, their part number should be 0363 1400.
It also mentions the drilling of the rim has to suit the dimensions of the hub, but that is basic knowledge.
Hi Don, don’t go to that extent, thank you. I measured the offset and make it roughly 50mm to the centre of the rim. I can make a steel straight edge to fit and measure the offset using that.
I just thought I’d see if anyone had this information to hand.
