I have had two 850 T3’s and a Cali 1100 over the years but always hankered for a 850T3 California and a couple of years ago it became a reality. Since then I have had a shed load of problems. A oil leak from the back of the gearbox easily fixed with a new seal at the clutch pushrod end. then the clutch pushrod thrust bearing decided to let go and fill the gearbox with rock hard rollers.my limited experience with gearboxes ended up with me calling on the expertise of Mike Russell de Clifford to rebuild. It turned out the whole gearbox was in a sorry state and most parts had to be replaced. I fitted a new clutch while the engine was out . and with easy access to the distibutor new points and condensors were fitted. I would have fitted electronic ignition, but by now had spent a lot of money so new points and condensors had to do. Finally all back together and great! I had my bike back. About 6 weeks have passed and on a sunday run out the bike began to pop and bang. By the time I had limped home she was backfiring like a gud un’. A forum suggestion was the condensors ( a good call), fitted new ones and still the same but on trying to fire up, which she does…just there is some nasty knocking going on in the right hand cylinder side.
I’m at the stage now that I just want to take it to a dealer and get it sorted once and for all. So please could anyone let me know of a dealer that is good with older Guzzis near me. I am at Havant (near Portsmouth) the bike would need to be collected. I would like to get it sorted and ride it!!!
Maybe worth checking to see that the timing hasn’t slipped or points closed up.

I would have a look at the basics first to make sure it’s not a simple fix. Had you done anything to the bike before this happened?
