California Vintage Light Lenses

Hi,

Just a quick question. The lenses on my Vintage front ‘driving lamps’ are opaque. Can anyone confirm that this is how they should be or not?

Curious

Thanks.

Im not sure if this helps by the head light on my 95 Cali was sort of white/hazy on the inside

It will rub off with a rag on a bit of stick if you can get in there (I couldn’t effectivly so had to replace it) and once removed lighting improves!

I did think of having a go at it with this http://www.lakeland.co.uk/22245/Chandelier-and-Crystal-Cleanertris2014-05-27 07:28:15

Thanks for that. I haven’t been inside the lamps yet but it struck me that the lenses should be clear, the same as the lens on the headlamp. I shouldn’t have thought that the spot lamp lenses would have left the factory opaque… Thanks again.

if it helps, my vintage lens are clear so it prob’ is not like that from the factory. good luck cleaning them as the bulb hole is very small on the reflector, i can’t find an LED bulb small enough to fit through.Californhihay2014-05-27 19:53:46

Hmmm…that’s interesting. Thanks. I’m wondering why my lenses have become cloudy. Perhaps incorrect bulbs fitted at some stage previously. Further investigation required, methinks!

Ingress of damp?
Just a thought,
Steve

Not sure, Steve. Will post when I get to the bottom of it but I’m pretty sure they should be clear, as standard…

That or I think with mine - just 19 years of life!
