I don’t like having to spend money in that way either, but you shouldn’t have any more problems with it. Note the fixing bolts may be loctited, I think I used an impact gun to jar them loose. Or a good quality Allen key, that won’t round off.
I found warming the bolts up first makes the loctite more fluid.
Yes! Forgot that.
My main concern atm is how to get her off the ground. I have an Americana lift for the Harley’s as both have bottom frame rails that are lowest point on bike & a small flat top scissor Jack that does the same. However can’t use those as the exhaust header pipes are the lowest point on the V7. Don’t fancy lifting the bike on those.
Maybe the small flat bed scissor Jack with a couple of bit of wood under the sump? Be a bit unstable as the sump is curved lol. Don’t make it easy do they!!
What do you guys use? Apart from a center stand.
One of these
Just a quick update. New EBC disk fitted. Problems solved. New replacement Guzzi disk on the garage shelf.
Thanks for the update, it’s always good to hear how things end, rather than to be left ‘hanging’ awaiting a conclusion to any similar problems that one might be experiencing.
I too have noticed a clatter when going over bumps recently on my 2022 Stone. At first I thought it was the handle on the metal flask in my Kreiga tailpack rattling, but it subsequently happened without that being a factor.
I can’t see or feel any undue play in the rotor and have eliminated the exhausts, but will certainly keep a close eye on the bobbins now.
sidestand clouting the silencer ?
I thought it might be the centrestand but that and the side-stand are held pretty firmly against their stops by the springs, so I don’t think it’s that.
Like the OP, I find the sound is hard to place, but initially sounds like a rattling of brake hoses or something against plastic, towards the front end, though that too has pretty much been eliminated. It doesn’t happen all the time but when it does, it’s always over bumps or very rough surfaces and not usually at low speeds. Hopefully, it will become more consistent, so that I can pin down the cause, though the bike rides and stops just fine in the meantime .
As a further thought on disk…… when I rode up to the dealer the very hot summer days now gone the noises had much reduced to the point of not being a problem at all. The only difference was very hot day very very noisy. Leave in garage for a few weeks go up to dealer by comparison a much cooler day no problem with noise.
Mechanic reckoned the very loose disk was by degrees opening up the pad gap as the calliper pistons where looser in there bores allowing the disk more space to shake rattle & roll causing the racket.
But basically a guess…….
Checking the EBC disk against the new Guzzi replacement the EBC has absolutely no discernible movement between disk & it’s carrier & bobbins. The whole disk is a bit heavier, thicker alloy for the centre hub of disk & the spring washers on the bobbins are made of a thicker metal.
Whole disk is a much better product.
is the spring that retains the brake pad pins worn ?
had a rattle on mine, and thought it was the bobbins
Antonio found the clip was worn, new pads, pins and clip and rattle gone
Did the disc mounting bolts come out with out any problems ?
Derek
Bike was only a few months old & the bolts torque settings are very minimal. Sorry can’t remember them atm. But ys they came out very easily
If it is that loud I suspect it is the fuel cap. I have a new V7 special and it is just the same. The fuel tank acts a drum and amplifies the noise. Ride along a piece of rough road, easy to find at the moment. Hold and release the fuel cap .
Whilst looking for the rattle I also noticed the front disc had a lot of movement radially, when i took it for it’s first service they said it was in limits.
Does anyone what the limit is?
