cleaning V35 fuel tank

I was planning to put some nuts and washers into my tank to loosen any rust. It hasn’t seen fuel in many a year.
It seems there is some sort of baffle in the neck of the filler which would make it nigh on impossible to retrieve the nuts/washers.
Any bright ideas? I’m ready to get it painted.

Go to the shops or online and buy a large tin/jar of pure molasses- make up a strong solution with water and fill the tank to just below the neck/cap leave for a week then empty out into a bucket flush tank with a hose! then check the inside with a torch if clear oil or line quickly once dry to prevent rust reforming! if not clear enough put the solution back in for another week!
